TV is going digital. The existing analogue TV signal will be switched off and replaced with a new, stronger digital TV signal. It will mean that almost everyone will be able to receive digital TV through an aerial. You may have already been through this changeover, but some areas are still awaiting the arrival of Digital TV.

Digital TV uses less broadcast space than analogue which means that there is more space for new services such as wireless broadband, local TV and High Definition Television. To keep your TV service, you will need to convert your TVs to digital before your area’s switchover date and by doing this you will receive not only your existing channels, but many more too.
Switching is easy, and can be done by just connecting a digital box to your existing TV. Remember though, that if you have more than one television you will have to consider all of them, and any TV equipment you may also have. This means that if you like to record TV programmes, and watch them later, you will need ensure that you get a digital TV recorder like a Sky+ or Freeview+ box.
Go-Electrical has a number of set-top boxes available so you can get Digital ready. The Humax Foxsat HDR (£143.40) provides a perfect (and cheaper) alternative to SKY+HD. It has an easy to navigate user interface and wide range of channels both of standard and high definition. The HDMI port allows you to view High Definition channels in all their glory on a HD Ready TV.
A great recorder is the Sharp PVR TUTV322H (£163.90). With this great box, you can record up to 160 hours of tv, and it also has Top-up-TV compatibility which expands your viewing options. It combines Freeview+, a twin tuner and software that allows you to record two programmes simultaneously, and watch a pre-recorded one all at the same time! The box is simple and ‘one touch recording’ is the main feature – it is so easy to set it so that the whole series of your favourite show can be recorded.
