New, new, new, Newgate

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

We have just taken delivery of some exciting new products, and now that they have arrived I can’t wait any longer, I have to tell you about our newest addition! I was banned from typing and telling you all the goss, but now the stock has landed I’m letting the secret out…Newgate Clocks are now available at Go-Electrical!

I’ve always been a bit of a horophile (a person who likes clocks) – although I’m always late – and I especially like a clock that looks a little bit different and adds a certain je ne sais quoi to a room, so Newgate clocks arriving into the building is a little worrying for my bank account!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Newgate clocks, I had better fill you in…A British company owned and run by Jim and Chloe Read, Newgate specialize in creating alarm clocks, mantel clocks and wall clocks of all different sizes, colours and styles. The designs are influenced by classic, vintage and retro designs of the past, making a Newgate clock perfect for any household. Even if you have never heard of ‘Newgate’ I can guarantee that when you see their clocks you will instantly recognize them – featured in magazines and newspapers, and used in tv and film sets, they crop up everywhere!

I personally like the big wall clocks that wouldn’t look out of place on a train station platform in the 1950s, but I think that is just because I’m a fan of all things from the 40s and 50s. My least favorites in the range are the ones that were used in the school gym at my high school, as they conjour up memories of exam-time. The large clear numbers, straight black hands, and the red second-hand just send shivers down my spine!

Whether you are looking for something small and timeless to sit on your fireplace, or a large statement piece to hang in your hallway, look no further than Newgate. Perfect wedding and new home gifts, why not share Newgate with your loved-ones and keep the British brand thriving.

New Alphason AV stands

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Alphason has been manufacturing for over 25 years, and as a result the company is now the UK’s leading manufacturer of TV Stands, AV Furniture, AV Brackets and AV Accessories.  Building on their successful AV ranges, Alphason have expanded into office furniture, and, most recently, into lighting.

Products are manufactured to the highest standards, using quality materials and the most up-to-date designs and technology. The idea behind Alphason products is that everything should function effectively, but also be pleasing on the eye. “Focusing on intelligent product design and development in line with TV panel innovation, we are constantly aware of new trends as they emerge. With an in-house design and development team, we are continuously designing and developing products to keep you ahead of the competition.” [Alphason Design website]

There are some new ranges that Alphason have recently launched, and we here at Go-Electrical are proud to say that we have them on our site ready for you to purchase. As always the prices are great, and with home delivery direct from Alphason on most items, your chosen piece could be with you within a matter of days.

Firstly, there is the new Arena series. The stand was designed with flat-screens in mind as it discreetly houses a 2.1 HD Sound upgrade, meaning better sound from your existing TV. The built-in speakers deliver brilliant sound quality and bass, but also do not look like speakers, which doesn’t spoil the overall appearance of the stand. The Arena stand is available in black or walnut and black, and is recommended for televisions up to 47” in size.

The Tensai series is another of the new additions. Available in three sizes the stands are suitable for televisions up to 40”, 46” and 55” in size, and feature brushed steel side panels, and stylish, highly reflective black glass floating shelves. A great focal point in any living room, the Tensai not only looks good but is very practical too.

Finally, there is the Yatai series. This ultra modern stand is all straight lines, and houses invisible push to open drawers, and aluminium DVD/game storage. The Yatai is available in two sizes, and comes in black or white, both of which have clear acrylic supports which add to the very contemporary look. Suitable for television screens up to 46” and 55”, the Yatai would be perfectly situated in a bachelor pad or a brilliantly stylish penthouse!

Keep your eyes peeled for further stands appearing on the Go-Electrical website. We already have information about several other new ranges that will be available shortly with names such as Gradino, Event and Contrast to name just a few.

Want, want, want one – Pure Evoke Mio

Friday, March 25th, 2011

The Pure Evoke Mio sounds and looks fantastic, so much so we want one in every colour! Based on the technology and design that won the Evoke-1S the What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision’s ‘Best Portable DAB Radio’ award, this radio is superb.

The Evoke Mio will brighten up any room, especially with the fabulous new colours released for spring and summer, and the classic and simple design means that this DAB radio will definitely win a place in your heart – you might even want one in every room!

An easy-to-use, compact radio, the Evoke Mio is the first portable radio to come with a removable ChargePak pre-installed. This means it is excellent for moving from room to room, or taking into the garden while you entertain or relax. There is an input for your iPod/MP3 player, so it is ideal for the whole family to use – we know what is like when the kids are that step ahead with technology! We love the robust case as it is wipe clean so it doesn’t matter if you’re a messy cook, and to help cooks further the Evoke Mio has a built in kitchen timer. Very simple and extremely useful, especially if your cooker is as complicated as mine!

Living in an area with limited DAB reception (the Yorkshire Dales), I was very impressed with the digital signal received by the Evoke Mio, and there was absolutely no interference on the channels we did pick up. The radio maybe compact, but it doesn’t compromise on great sound quality unlike some other brands. Very clear, and even at top volume the sound quality is great.

Unfortunately I’ve had to give this one back, but I am definitely going to be buying one – I just have to decide which one of the new colours I want. Teal, Lava, Cherry, Noir or Grape? Maybe I can have one of each…

BDI Office Furniture

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

After a fairly quiet year for BDI they are back with a new range of office furniture. Designed to be sit as pride of place in your office they are amazing crafted from top quality wood and all items in 3 different finishes you are certain to find a fantastic combination for your office.

Starting with a simple CPU case which will hide the ugliest of computer towers and going up to a full PC desk with various accesories along the way.

The desk comes with a neoprone lined drawer to ensure easy clenaing, your keyboard doesn’t slip and also adds as a mouse mat to ensure precision when navigating your system.

Magnetic strips allow you to attach a power strip keeping all your plugs and wires neat and tidy an expected feature in a luxury desk like this.

What I like most is the way the BDI have made everything to match and co-ordinate both colour and size wise a feature which many companies in the past seem to have forgotten about.

So if you’re looking to refurbish your office BDI is definitely worth a look.
