PURE Contour 100Di

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

Just in time for Christmas, PURE have launched a new docking station for iPod and iPhones. The PURE Contour 100Di is the baby sister of the PURE Contour, and it is great.

The Contour 100Di is a compact dock with DAB and FM radio which offers brilliant, powerful sound for an affordable price. It features a revolving dock, petite remote control with magnetic remote tidy, two alarms and sleep and snooze timers.

Unlike the PURE Contour, the Contour 100Di doesn’t feature Wi-Fi capabilities, but don’t let that put you off. If you have an iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad you can download the PURE Lounge app which enables users to listen to world radio stations, podcasts, listen again content and PURE sounds. The app turns the Contour 100Di into a Wi-Fi audio system without braking the bank.

Fantastic radios from Roberts

Friday, July 1st, 2011

Roberts Radio Ltd was founded in 1932 by Harry Roberts and Leslie Bidmead. Since then company has grown slowly but surely and today Roberts radios are sold around the world, from Japan to USA.

In the 75 years the company has been making radios, Roberts has formed a reputation for producing quality radios that are extremely reliable and innovative. That is why today there are approximately 2000 shops throughout the UK that stock, and sell, Roberts radios – including the now iconic Revival radio (see earlier blog posts), which is instantly recognizable, and very stylish.

Roberts created the “first truly portable DAB/WiFi radio” when they made the Stream 202, and the “world’s first Solar DAB radio”, which not only looks good but is kind to the environment. In fact, Roberts have a range of radios which are eco friendly – these products are energy efficient as they have increased battery life and reduced power consumption. For example, the Ecologic Gemini21 has up to 150 hours of battery life, and the new Expression runs for up to 100 hours on its battery – that means these portable radios can be used in the garden, or taken on picnics to the park or beach, and there is no fear of your summer soundtrack running out midway through the day!

All products are packaged using cardboard made from recycled waste paper, and can of course by recycled again. Roberts Radio also has a fantastic repair centre, so if your radio does break (very rare) then it can be sent away and fixed, instead of being thrown away. All this means you can do your bit to save the environment, but the best bit is that it all saves you money, and we all know how precious pennies are these days!

Roberts radios and accessories are available from Go-Electrical and start from just £20.90 for a clock radio. Bargain!

Sleek, Modern, Stylish…

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

The Conran Audio iPod dock is beautiful mixture of stylish, modern design and stunning audio technology, thanks to a brilliant partnership between Armout Home and design guru Sir Terence Conran and his team.

The iPod dock’s audio engineering comes from Q Acoustics, and the dock is a dedicated “100% pure iPod player” but also features Bluetooth connectivity so devices can be used wirelessly (such as an iPad). Don’t panic if you want to connect other music sources, such as radios, CD and MP3 players – these can be connected through the audio output sockets via the Conran Audio iPod dock’s 3.5mm auxiliary input.

The dock assembly rotates so that your iPod and iPhone can be mounted vertically or horizontally. This means that you can view menus as you wish, and easily control what you are listening to. Another great feature is that you will always be able to find the remote because when it is not in use, the sleek remote fits snugly into the side of the dock. The Conran Audio iPod dock boasts six preset audio equalisation settings to optimise its performance for different types of music in different rooms.

Furthermore, the Conran dock’s in-built Bluetooth™ receiver chip is compatible with ‘apt-X’, the new high-performance audio coding technology which transmits CD-quality full-bandwidth stereo over Bluetooth™ connections. ‘apt-X’ is the ‘must have’ technology feature in high-end consumer audio devices, and the Conran Audio iPod dock is definitely one of those!

Soundcast Outcast Wireless Speaker

The daffodils are out, it’s official, spring is here and summer is on the way.

If you’re looking forward to barbecues and outdoor parties then the Soundcast Outcast wireless speaker could be the ultimate garden accessory for you. An outdoor speaker which you don’t have to remember to bring at the end of the night.

It’s big, at a metre tall it is robust and feels like it’s built to last. Although it is called portable we don’t think you’ll be moving it around much as it weighs 40lbs. It has an internally charged battery pack which will last 10 hours per charge and the unit can continue to work if it’s plugged in. The Outcast comes with an iCast docking station (which can also be used to charge the your iPod.

It is completely weather proof (outer is plastic) so you don’t need to worry about bring it indoors in the event of a shower, Soundcast have demo’ed this by putting it through a carwash and it kept playing.

As well as coming with an iCast docking station (which isn’t weather proof so lave it indoors) the Outcast includes the ability to remote control the ipod from the speaker. You can also jack a player directly into the Outcast, handy if you want to use one of your guests’ players.

Overall the Outcast’ sound output quality is impressive and it has a great range. If you are looking for an robust outdoor speaker you won’t be going too far wrong with the Outcast. We saw great demand for it last year and we’re expecting the same again this year.

If you’re interested in finding out more have a look at the the product page at: Go-Electrical or check out the Soundcast website.
