Fireplace requirements
If fitting the Environ fire into an opening in a cavity wall or into a void, use a cavity wall box (CAV4241). Failure to do so can result in the pull from the cavity causing heat build up on the fire surround or moisture ingress from the cavity.
Existing chimneys and flues must be blocked off completely. With the Environ, a cavity wall box (CAV4241) must also be fitted.
All inset appliances require a non-combustible fireplace, hearth and back panel. The hearth must extend at least 100mm from the front and sides of the fire. All materials within 200mm of the appliance must be non-combustible. All materials, including the fireplace, mantel and shelf (including any varnishes, paints, etc) must be rated to withstand a constant working temperature of 150°C.
All gas appliances must be installed by a CORGI qualified engineer and serviced annually. Failure to do so will invalidate all guarantees.
