At the end of next month John will be taking part in a sponsored bike ride between Venice and Milan, raising money in support of Action Medical Research’s research and work against devastating childhood conditions.
On the 24th of June John will join over 30 others making up the Smeg cycle team. Over four days they’ll make the journey from Venice to Milan, an impressive and tough 240 miles in the saddle through Northern Italy, taking in the Po River, the hills of Lombardy and Lakes Garda and Iseo.
The team will be fundraising for Action Medical Research, who for over 60 years now have been funding amazing research into the prevention and treatment of diseases and conditions affecting babies and children. Since 1952, research Action Medical Research has funded has directly led to advances in the treatment and prevention of devastating conditions such as polio, spina bifida, meningitis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and rubella. They are currently funding research in to a wide and varied range of diseases affecting children and this valuable work is all made possible by donations and fundraising activities like the Smeg Venice to Milan Cycle Challenge.
John assures us he’s been out and about training on the tough hills of the Dales, but has thankfully spared us any photos of him in his cycling lycra so far.
