More Le Creuset cookware available now

Thursday, January 24th, 2013

In previous blogs we have told our readers that the Go-Electrical range of Le Creuset would only keep on getting bigger, and we didn’t lie. If a new set of pans is on your wishlist then look no further than the Le Creuset 3-Ply Stainless Steel range, which is the newest addition to the Le Creuset pages of Go-Electrical

The 3-Ply range is constructed from three layers of stainless steel and aluminium which cleverly enables heat to spread consistently from base to rim. There is a mirror polished stainless steel interior, then a layer of aluminium and then a magnetic steel exterior, and this means that whatever it is that is being cooked, does so quickly and evenly. The pans feature capacity markings on the inside wall which is helpful when adding stock, and the all-round pouring rim means that there are less spills and drips when transferring liquids. Team this with the secure fixed cast handles that are used on the range and you are sure to avoid any mess.

All of the range is dishwasher safe, and it doesn’t matter what kind of hob you have as the 3-Ply range can be used on induction, gas, electric, ceramic and radiant ring hobs. The pans are also oven safe up to 220°C (Gas mark 7) so you can use them for baking or roasting almost anything. Select items from the range feature non-stick finishes, and these products have a 10 year warranty, whilst the rest of the range has a brilliant lifetime guarantee.

As normal there are recipe ideas on the Le Creuset website for dishes that can be prepared using the 3-Ply Stainless Steel range. Here is just one of those tasty recipes;

Meatballs in fresh Herb and Tomato sauce for 4 people (Le Creuset suggest using their 3–ply stainless steel 18cm Saucepan for this recipe)

For the meatballs –

300g beef steak mince

1 egg

40g fresh breadcrumbs

1 small red onion finely chopped

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon pepper

Small bunch fresh parsley –chopped

To sear –

10ml vegetable oil

For the tomato sauce –

10ml olive oil

1 medium onion finely chopped

1 clove garlic – chopped

400g tin of chopped tomatoes

1 tablespoon tomato puree

1 tablespoon tomato ketchup

100ml strong beef stock =1 stock cube dissolved in 100ml water

To finish –

20g butter

Basil leaves

Mix together all the meatball ingredients and form into small balls (Makes 20)

Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and in batches sear the meatballs well on all sides.

To make the sauce heat the olive oil in the saucepan and fry the onion and garlic till softened but not brown.

Add the remaining sauce ingredients and simmer for about 10 minutes until the consistency has thickened enough to coat a spoon.

Stir in the meatballs and cook with the lid on over a low heat for 20 minutes.

Stir in the butter and serve with the fresh basil leaves.

Serve with either spaghetti or rice.

Slate and Nutmeg; welcome additions to Le Creuset

Thursday, September 6th, 2012

Le Creuset is known for manufacturing brilliant cookware in fantastic colours, and they have recently added two new colours to their extensive range – Nutmeg and Slate. Much more subtle than the vivid Volcanic or sensational Cerise, these two new colours will add a little bit of timeless style to any kitchen.

The new colours are described by Le Creuset on their website;

“Slate pays homage to the origins of Cast Iron cookware. We have produced an enamelled finish with a natural, tactile, raw cast iron look, but with all the benefits of an enamelled product.”

“Nutmeg: A natural soft, earthy pastel brown that perfectly matches the trend for raw, natural materials and colours hitting the home.”

Slate will eventually replace Granite, and at the moment it is only available as cast iron products; round, oval and shallow casserole dishes, square and rectangular grills, an omelette pan and a frying pan. The Nutmeg collection has a wider range of products. As well has the same cast iron cookware Slate offers, Nutmeg also has a range of stoneware (including ramekins, teapots and oven dishes) and kitchen textiles – apron anyone?

As always, Le Creuset has created recipes for the new colour ranges, and these dishes are perfect autumn comfort food. I’m desperate to try the Spiced Lamb Loin with Mint Jus and the Artsoppa (Yellow Split Pea Soup with Ham) as both look ridiculously tasty, and would be perfect for dinner parties. To see the recipes, and more, visit the Le Creuset recipe pages.

The Nutmeg range is available now from Go-Electrical, and Slate will be with us in September. Keep your eyes peeled for Slate arriving in, and be one of the first people to get their hands on it – it will go fast, believe us!

Introducing yet another fabulous brand available to purchase through our Cookshop – Le Creuset. Brilliant!

Le Creuset is known and recognised all over the globe because of the fabulous cast iron cookware it produces; easily recognized and often lusted after. The range of products available today is extensive to say the least; stoneware, ceramics, stainless steel pans the list goes on.

The brand was first established in France in 1925 and has grown and grown in popularity, with top chefs from around the world using Le Creuset daily. You will too once you have experienced cooking with Le Creuset. “Le Creuset cookware offers outstanding performance time after time”.

The manufacturing process of Le Creuset’s original cast iron range is almost how it was in 1925 and is very unusual, and means that every item made is unique. Each item is cast in its own sand mould, and after casting this mould is destroyed – no two products are ever really the same. After casting the items are enameled by hand, layer upon layer, and this process makes a very strong surface that does not require any further treating.

The list of things that can be cooked, baked and created in Le Creuset cookware is extensive; from casseroles, to soufflés, pies to curry the possibilities are endless. Don’t panic though, you don’t have to be an amazing cook to use Le Creuset, but your Lasagne will taste better for being cooked in one of the casserole dishes. I have been collecting recipes just recently (see the previous blog – KitchenAid), and I have a tasty one that you can use the Le Creuset ramekins for – mmmmm yummy.

Italian Chocolate Pots – serves two;

25g spreadable butter
125g plain chocolate
1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
2 large egg whites
2 tablespoons brandy
10 small ratafia biscuits
Little whipped cream for serving

1. Put the butter, chocolate, coffee and two tablespoons of water into a small saucepan. Heat gently, stirring occasionally, until the consistency is smooth. Cool slightly.
2. Whisk the egg whites until stiff.
3. Put four small ratafias into the base of each ramekin. Sprinkle each of them with one teaspoon of the brandy, stir the remainder into the chocolate.
4. Fold the egg whites into the chocolate, using a figure of eight movement. Spoon the mixture into the two ramekins. Transfer to the refrigerator and leave to set for 2-3 hours.
5. Before serving top with whipped double cream and a little crushed ratafia biscuit.

The girls here in the office already have a wish-list written up in anticipation of stock arriving with us, but they are having difficulties choosing the perfect colour. The new Cassis colour is beautiful, but the trademark Volcanic (orange) is great too. Once you have decided on your colour, the next decision you have to make is the size and shape you require. Now you can understand why these wish-lists are so vast!

You can own a small piece of La Creuset’s stylish, practical cookware from as little as ten pounds, so keep an eye on Go-Electrical’s Cookshop section. The arrival of these fabulous products is imminent and we are VERY excited!
