Passionate about Smeg

Thursday, July 5th, 2012

Whether it is located in an office, games room or a kitchen nobody can deny that the Smeg Retro refrigerators are unbelievably cool. These stylish and funky appliances have taken over a very special place in many people’s hearts, and won’t be vacating anytime soon.

The Smeg 50’s Style website ( is dedicated to these fantastic fridges, and people are now encouraged to upload photographs of their Smeg appliances, or Smeg refrigerators they see while out and about. It’s a great site to get a feel for the appliances, and see how one would look in your space – you can also see the interiors of other people’s personal spaces, and being quite nosy, this is the bit I like the most!

A number of appliances are available in the Retro range, from fridge freezers to fireplaces, and here at Go-Electrical we try and have the full range on our website at amazing prices. Want to see whats available? Take a look at the Smeg video below, or our Smeg home page. Go on, fall in love a little…

Be fashionable in 2012

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

According to the website colour is big for interiors in 2012;

“This year, we should all embrace colors that we wouldn’t normally associate, combine intense shades with balancing tones and think out of the box, giving our home a brand new personality. Dare to celebrate neon shades, using fluorescent green, yellow or pink, delivering thus new accent elements to your freshly decorated interior”

This got me thinking about how we can bring colour into our homes without tearing off the existing wallpaper, and painting the walls in clashing colours – can you imagine the headache – and I hit on the perfect conclusion…Coloured appliances and electricals.

Here at Go-Electrical we have a range of ‘Retro’ refrigerators that are available in some amazing colours. Whether it be a Gorenje or a Smeg, there is a fridge, or fridge freezer to match every budget and colour palette whether it be blue, pink or even candy striped (Smeg FAB28QCS £1279.90).

We also stock a fabulous range of Dualit toasters which are available in over 15 different colours. From a 2 slice Vario to a massive, family sized 6 slice toaster, Dualit should be the first port of call if you need a new toaster. Every part of the iconic appliances are replaceable which means your Dualit toaster could outlive you (grim thought, sorry!) and with Swiss-made timers used on every model you can expect nothing but reliable performance and perfect toast time after time.

To add a splash of colour to your kitchen and be in with the ‘cool crowd’ why not spend your hard earned cash (or Christmas money) on a KitchenAid Artisan Stand mixer? If you saw any of the lifestyle programs on TV last year, such as ‘The Great British Bake Off’, ‘Saturday Kitchen’ and ‘Kirstie’s Handmade Britain’ you couldn’t miss the KitchenAid mixer being used, or casually positioned in the background shots. This prominence in the media has made the mixers extremely sought after, and some colours sell out almost instantly. The mixers are available in over 25 colours, and open up endless possibilities in the kitchen because of the amazing range of accessories that are available for them. Homemade pasta anyone?

Even music lovers do not have to miss out on adding a bit of colour to their homes. PURE and Roberts Radio both make portable radios in a range of colours. The PURE Evoke Mio DAB/FM model is available in Teal, Lava, Cherry and Grape, while there is over 15 colours of Roberts RD60 Revival radios to choose from including a Union Jack print. Sounds cool to me.

Hopefully, this has convinced you that you don’t need to redecorate your whole house to be in with the fashionable crowd in 2012. Why not explore the Go-Electrical website further to see what else you can find in some lovely bright colours?

A++ rated appliances from Smeg

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

We all know how Smeg Retro appliances are nice to look at, but now Smeg have given us another reason to purchase one. The FAB28 refrigerator models now have a A++ energy rating instead of A+.

Smeg have reduced the amount of energy the FAB28 models use down to 180Kw/h per year, before it was 215Kw/h per year, and this has resulted in the new categorisation. This change does not affect any other aspect of the FAB28 models, and the dimensions have not altered at all. You will be able to indentify and new FAB28 A++ model by the product code, as Smeg have added a ‘1’ to the end – for example; a FAB28QNE is replaced by a FAB28QNE1. Simple.

The Energy labels we are all familiar with now, are changing too – they have been redesigned to be easier to understand across the EU, and a new category (A+++) has been added. The European Energy Label shows how efficiently a product uses energy, and it is a requirement for all white goods manufactured to have one of the labels. Products are scaled from A+++ to D, D being least efficient and by purchasing a more efficient model you could save over £100 in running costs.

So, save some money, some energy and in turn help the environment – buy efficiently rated products.

Buy a Smeg FAB28 fridge from Go-Electrical from £839.90 – a variety of colours available, along with other retro models.

The sun is shining, the weather is sweet…

Love retro style, love Smeg…

Monday, March 28th, 2011

We have all seen the breakfast cereal advert with the beautiful red Smeg retro fridge in the background (you know the one; the woman is always wearing jeans or a red dress!), and we notice the fridge, not only because of the colour, but because the retro design stands out in the stark, white minimal kitchen. And that is what is so fabulous about the Smeg retro range – it doesn’t matter if you have a traditional country style kitchen, or a sleek modern kitchen, the range will only enhance the look, especially when there are so many colours available. Being a fan of contemporary kitchens I personally like the sleek black appliances in the range. If modern isn’t your thing then don’t worry – the range includes pastel green, blue, traditional cream and a lovely pale pink.

Smeg created the 50’s style retro line in the mid 1990’s. The first product was the fridge, and it became a worldwide success due to its indeterminate appeal. Smeg say that this success is down to “its aesthetic and the world that it conjures up, the unique tone that it thrusts upon the kitchen makes it rather “post-fridge”, a refrigerator that transcends its function, becoming an emblem of culture”.

These days it is not just the FAB28 fridge that is available in the retro style. There is the FAB32 (fridge-freezer), the FAB30 (fridge and icebox), the FAB10 (compact fridge), the free-standing freezer to stand side by side with your FAB28, and also a dishwasher and washing machine! Add just one appliance to enhance the aesthetics of your kitchen or three to really get your friends and family envious. The newest addition to the Retro range is a gas fire, available in seven stylish colours – now your living room doesn’t have to feel left out!

The 50’s style Retro products have become cult objects, and just keep getting more and more popular. Smeg have even launched a new website dedicated to the line;

Here at Go-Electrical we have Smeg products at some truly amazing prices, and you can own your very own piece of retro style from just £580. Come on, join the 50’s style revival and add a bit of character to your home.
